Conducting Batons

The main differences among conducting batons are overall length, material composition, and handle shape. Batons with cork handles typically have a shaft made of fiberglass or synthetic material and are designed for durability. Wooden batons are more fragile. For those interested in technical accuracy, a conducting baton with the proper weight distribution will balance evenly when placed on a finger at the point just above where the handle meets the shaft. (All Mollard batons are properly balanced.) The difference between wood types is purely cosmetic and the shape of the handle is a matter of personal preference.
