Educational Sales Representative

Location: Bethel, VT
Schedule: Full-Time, Mon–Fri (some Saturdays); overtime late Aug–mid Oct (compensated)

Ellis Music Company is a family‑owned business specializing in school music instrument rentals, sales, and repairs across VT & NH. We are seeking a personable, detail‑oriented outside sales professional to manage and grow our school accounts. You’ll deliver and pick up instruments and supplies along an established route, building relationships with educators, generating sales, and ensuring outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Support & Relationship Building
    • Serve as primary contact for music educators, administrators, and school staff
    • Proactively communicate about orders, repairs, returns, and billing
  • Delivery & Logistics
    • Load, unload, and transport instruments/supplies in a company cargo van
    • Keep van clean, organized, and report maintenance needs
    • Follow established routes and schedules reliably
  • Account Management & Sales
    • Document all transactions and resolve any issues with customer service staff
    • Track school‑owned instruments in repair and monitor their status
    • Identify and act on opportunities to upsell and grow revenue
  • Collaboration & Flexibility
    • Work independently with minimal supervision
    • Pitch in with team duties or cover colleagues when needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s in music/music education or equivalent experience
    • Valid driver’s license with clean record
    • Familiarity with musical instruments and supplies
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Excellent communication (in person, phone, email, text)
    • Strong organization, time management, and problem‑solving
    • Attentive to detail and customer needs
    • Able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
    • Professional appearance
    • Basic computer literacy (POS/inventory systems)
