Ellis Music is a family owned music store employing fewer than 20 workers but serving over 400 schools and thousands of individuals throughout Vermont and much of New Hampshire with instrument sales and rentals, repair services, supplies, and sheet music.

Warehouse Operations Associate

Location: Bethel, VT
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hrs/wk (M–F, some Saturdays); overtime in June & late Aug–mid Oct

Ellis Music Company is a family‑owned business specializing in school music instrument rentals, sales, and repairs across VT & NH. We are looking for a reliable, detail‑oriented warehouse team member to help keep our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrument Care & Quality Control
    • Polish, inspect, label and pack instruments and cases
    • Ensure outgoing orders include all accessories
  • Inventory & Repairs
    • Track rental returns, repairs and loaner prep via our inventory system
    • Alert the repair shop manager when stock is low
  • Shipping & Receiving
    • Unload/load trucks, pack/unpack shipments, and manage mail
    • Process inbound repairs and outbound rentals in manager’s absence
  • Customer Support
    • Contact customers with repair estimates
    • Help resolve instrument mix‑ups with educators
  • Facility Upkeep
    • Restock showroom, maintain clean and organized workspaces

What We’re Looking For

  • Skills & Abilities
    • Basic computer literacy (POS/inventory systems)
    • Excellent attention to detail and basic math skills
    • Ability to lift 20 lb frequently and 50 lb with a hand truck
    • Comfortable sitting/standing for long periods, bending, reaching
    • Casual, safe attire (closed‑toe shoes required)

    • Willingness to learn quickly (musical‑instrument knowledge a plus)
    • Self‑starter who works well independently and as part of a team

Educational Sales Representative

Location: Bethel, VT
Schedule: Full-Time, Mon–Fri (some Saturdays); overtime late Aug–mid Oct (compensated)

Ellis Music Company is a family‑owned business specializing in school music instrument rentals, sales, and repairs across VT & NH. We are seeking a personable, detail‑oriented outside sales professional to manage and grow our school accounts. You’ll deliver and pick up instruments and supplies along an established route, building relationships with educators, generating sales, and ensuring outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Support & Relationship Building
    • Serve as primary contact for music educators, administrators, and school staff
    • Proactively communicate about orders, repairs, returns, and billing
  • Delivery & Logistics
    • Load, unload, and transport instruments/supplies in a company cargo van
    • Keep van clean, organized, and report maintenance needs
    • Follow established routes and schedules reliably
  • Account Management & Sales
    • Document all transactions and resolve any issues with customer service staff
    • Track school‑owned instruments in repair and monitor their status
    • Identify and act on opportunities to upsell and grow revenue
  • Collaboration & Flexibility
    • Work independently with minimal supervision
    • Pitch in with team duties or cover colleagues when needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s in music/music education or equivalent experience
    • Valid driver’s license with clean record
    • Familiarity with musical instruments and supplies
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Excellent communication (in person, phone, email, text)
    • Strong organization, time management, and problem‑solving
    • Attentive to detail and customer needs
    • Able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
