Ellis Music is a family owned music store employing fewer than 20 workers but serving over 400 schools and thousands of individuals throughout Vermont and much of New Hampshire with instrument sales and rentals, repair services, supplies, and sheet music.

Woodwind Instrument Repair Technician

Location: Bethel, VT (Ellis Music Company)
Schedule: 40 hrs/wk (overtime available)

Ellis Music Company, a 75-year-old, family-owned store serving VT & NH, is looking for a skilled woodwind technician to join our collaborative repair shop. A certificate/degree from an accredited instrument repair program or equivalent professional experience is required. Skill with brass or percussion repairs is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrument Repair & Maintenance
    • Service store-owned rental fleet; evaluate and repair customer- & school-owned instruments
    • Use TriTech AIM software to create and process repair tickets
  • Shop & Workspace Care
    • Keep personal and shared benches clean and organized
    • Operate shop equipment: ultrasonic cleaner, lathe, MDRS dent-removal system
  • Customer, Staff & Educator Support
    • Discuss repair needs in clear, jargon-free language
    • Coordinate with educational reps to deliver top-quality service to schools

What We’re Looking For

  • Woodwind repair certification or proven equivalent experience
  • Pleasant, tactful communication style; ability to explain technical work simply
  • Basic computer proficiency (repair ticket software)
  • Team-oriented mindset; benches are arranged face-to-face in a well-lit shop
