Kean is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer who has worked extensively at the interface of theatre and music. After graduating from Middlebury College, he spent the next decade performing with ensembles such as the Blue Man Group, Double Edge Theatre, and the Agile Rascal Bicycle Touring Theatre, as well as composing music for independent dance, theatre, and video projects. Nowadays he teaches various instruments to all ages out of his home in Woodstock, VT. His lessons draw out the student’s intuitive musicality through an emphasis on ear training, and analysis of music the student knows and loves. He believes in putting the tools of music creation into the hands of his students early, so that composition becomes a natural and approachable facet of music making.

Offering in-home lessons in Bellows Falls, VT. Michaela graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Music Performance from Welch College in 2019 and has been teaching private lessons since 2018. Michaela adapts to the unique needs of all ages and learning styles. Lessons are personalized to meet your goals, such as reading music and chord sheets, polishing your favorite songs and pieces, learning to sing along, improvisation, learning theory, and composition of new music.
