More Information:
Solomon Alber is a multi-instrumentalist and educator hailing from the East San Francisco Bay Area, where he grew up immersed in the region’s diverse music scene. Solomon teaches saxophone, clarinet, improvisation, music theory, and jazz history, adapting lessons to each student’s interests, experience, and goals. Whether a student is learning their first scales, exploring improvisation, or preparing for an audition, he helps them develop both strong musical skills and a deeper understanding of the music they are playing.
Researchers and neuroscientists have conducted studies with results that show “playing music is the brain’s equivalent of a full body workout.” Solomon is committed to music education, teaching students from elementary to high school and adults in the Mad River Valley and in the Burlington area. When Solomon was a senior in high school, he became one of six students from around the world to be awarded a full presidential scholarship at Berklee College of Music, learning with Ralph Peterson Jr., Tina Fuller and Tiger Okoshi. He completed a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Rutgers University.
Solomon can be seen out and about actively performing in contradances, klezmer festivals and local performing arts venues. He has many hobbies and will absolutely nerd out about these things: jazz music, circus arts and science fiction movies. In addition to his performing career, he loves to dive into music from video games, movies and TV shows together with his students and strives to make learning music an experience that is more than just reading notes on a page.
